The 19-year-old has shown that he is an exciting prospect for Arsenal, but he has not played as well in the first half of this season as he did last season.
This led to the Gunners loaning Nwaneri to Marseille in January, but he is currently struggling to get much playing time there.
Matt Spiro, citing France’s L’Equipe, reports that there may be signs that Nwaneri’s attitude is not in his best interest, prompting OM manager Habib Bayet to leave him out.
Spiro posted on X:Ethan Nwaneri’s rental fee is time-based: the more he plays, the less Marseille’s salary will be #Arsenal“L’Equipe” reported. Despite this, he has not started a single game in the last two months under manager Habib Bayet, with the paper citing a “consistent impression of nonchalance”.
Can Ethan Nwaneri turn his career around?
Nwaneri has been playing in and around Arsenal’s first team since he was a teenager and it is clear that he has tremendous ability and huge potential.
However, while this seems to be a key stage in his career, Nwaneri needs more playing time to develop his game and show that he is truly suited at this level.
However, it is also important that players display the right attitude and work ethic both on the pitch and on the training ground.

For some reason, Nwaneri doesn’t seem to have made that impression on managers so far, but Arteta hasn’t used him much this season and Beyer has him frozen out at Marseille currently.
It will be interesting to see what happens when England Under-21s return to the Emirates Stadium this summer. He would no doubt want to play more often, but that might require another loan spell.
