The PGA Tour is in New Orleans this week, with the tour’s stars teaming up for a two-person tournament format at the Zurich Classic. Each team will compete in two Best Ball rounds and two Alternative Shot rounds at TPC Louisiana, providing a change of pace from the year’s first major and a signature event for back-to-back weeks.
Many of the PGA Tour’s top stars are on vacation this week due to scheduling conflicts, making it the perfect tournament for players to score breakthrough wins. A year ago in Zurich, Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin played well in the early stages of the season and finally won the game. Two years ago, Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry were crowned pair of the week.
This year, Griffin and Novak hope to get back to the form they had a year ago in their title defense, but to do that they will need to beat a number of strong and interesting teams. Lowry will be part of the highest-paid team again this week, teaming up with Brooks Koepka in place of old friend McIlroy as he looks to return to the PGA Tour winner’s circle.
The two will play with one of the other notable pairs on the field for the first two days as Matt Fitzpatrick teams up with his brother Alex, who is fresh off a thrilling playoff win over Scotty Scheffler at RBC Heritage. Other teams to watch this week include Aaron Rai and Sahit Segala, Ryan Gerrard and Sudarshan Yelamaraju, Windham Clarke and Taylor Moore, and more.
