  • Liverpool begin work on replacing Salah
  • Why Kolo Muani could be Liverpool’s new Balotelli
        • Liverpool move towards £87m upgrade for ‘Mbappe-like’ Gakpo

Mohamed Salah’s summer departure has dominated the headlines, but Liverpool will be without a number of key players at the end of the season.

Following the arrival of Milos Kerkes last year, Andy Robertson’s playing time has decreased and he is set to leave on a free transfer. Rumors are currently growing regarding Alisson Becker’s future, with Juventus hoping to sign the veteran goalkeeper in the coming months.

Strangely, Arne Slott is not expected to be one of the players who have passed away, with Michael Edwards and FSG extending a final hand of faith, with many calling for time on the Dutchman’s tenure.

If Slott is to stay here, it’s important that the fan base supports him. He won the Premier League last season and Liverpool will need stability as they prepare for another big-money rebuild.

Salah is invaluable, but Liverpool will need to find someone who can complement Alexander Isak and bring goals and assists to Anfield when it comes to the right wing of the attack.

How much has Salah won over the years? That’s unlikely.

Still, Liverpool have a number of exciting targets in mind. Bayern Munich’s Michael Oliseh is a dream target for FSG, but signing him this summer would be a pipe dream.

RB Leipzig winger Yann Diomande is likely the new top target, with the Ivory Coast international still only 20 years old and valued at £87m.

If Liverpool are looking to be a bit more cost-efficient, they might accelerate the signing of Paris Saint-Germain loser Randal Kolo Muani, who is currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur.

This was reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper, which revealed that Juventus – where Kolo Muani was on loan last season – have joined sloth Liverpool in the race to sign the French forward.

The 27-year-old has struggled in London this season, but FSG officials believe this is not a fair representation of Kolo Muani’s skill set and have expressed “strong” interest in the player, who could cost around £30m.

His versatility up front could allow Hugo Ekitike to survive a long-term injury, but in reality this could prove to be a disaster similar to Mario Balotelli’s one-time deal.

Why Kolo Muani could be Liverpool’s new Balotelli

Ah, Balotelli. When Liverpool welcomed the infamous Italian to the club in 2014, there was a certain amount of nervous excitement, but it soon became clear that the transfer team had made a mistake.

As with Salah, replacing Luis Suarez was always going to be an impossible task, but Liverpool failed spectacularly to replace the deadly Uruguayan striker, with the likes of Ricky Lambert and Balotelli doing little in the number seven spot.

According to the horse, it was the “worst mistake” of Balotelli’s career, and there is a good chance Kolo Muani will repeat it. Kolo Muani is, of course, a talented attacker, but despite being at the lowest point of his life, he has failed to impress at Spurs and was even branded “lazy” by journalist Kyle Freegard after failing to chase down a loose ball during a Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund.

His dynamism is good enough, but Kolo Muani is not key at all and with such a big job in front of him, FSG would make a big mistake signing a winger who has scored just one goal in 25 Premier League appearances.

The France international, who is paid £607,000 a week at PSG, is by no means a tenable solution for Liverpool. Remember, Balotelli arrives at Anfield having enjoyed a prolific spell in Italy with AC Milan, as well as Premier League experience with title-winning Manchester City.

Correspondent Sam Thabetoe said Kolo Muani was struggling “even before Spurs collapsed” and that while Liverpool will be looking for a stronger punch next season, they need a fighter rather than a player who cannot adapt to the Premier League and may struggle to outdo Liverpool’s current Salah.

Liverpool are in the process of signing a star player who would be a huge upgrade for the club over Kodi Gakpo.
