Arsenal are interested in signing Barcelona attacker Dani Olmo in the summer transfer window.
Reports from Spain suggest the 28-year-old Spain international could be a potential replacement for Martin Odegaard as Mikel Arteta wants to improve the quality of his attacking line-up.
The Norwegian has not been at his best this season and has been linked with a move away from the London club.
It will be interesting to see if Barcelona are prepared to sanction Olmo’s departure. They are facing financial difficulties and would find it difficult to turn down a high-paying offer. According to the newspaper, Arsenal could offer €60 million for the Spain international.
Olmo has proven his quality in La Liga and has the technical qualities to succeed in the Premier League. He can act as an attacking midfielder, in wide areas and as a second striker. If a deal goes through, his versatility would be a huge bonus for Arsenal. He can score goals and create chances for his teammates.
Olmo has contributed to 18 goals this season.
He is at the peak of his career and this could be the perfect time for Arsenal to sign him. However, the contract is likely to depend on the wishes of the player. It is unlikely that the Spanish club will force him out of the club if he does not want to leave Barcelona.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be able to persuade the player to join. This could be an interesting opportunity for a player to take on a new challenge at this stage of his career. He proved himself in Germany and Spain. He could make his mark on English football.
Arsenal have won the Premier League title and will aim to defend their domestic title next season. To do that, we need to continue to improve our team.
