  • ‘You never know’: Cunha drops hint of Casemiro’s U-turn
  • Casemiro became a big player for Man United under manager Michael Carrick.

Matheus Cunha has hinted that Casemiro could make a U-turn and remain at Manchester United next season, despite months of speculation linking the veteran midfielder with an MLS exit in the summer.

The Brazilian forward, who recently helped United qualify for the Champions League with a 3-2 win over Liverpool, dropped a major hint that the former Real Madrid star’s time at Old Trafford may not be over yet.

Casemiro is widely expected to join David Beckham’s Inter Miami at the end of this season, but Cunha believes there is still a chance for a final twist.

‘You never know’: Cunha drops hint of Casemiro’s U-turn

Following United’s recent success, Cunha has been vocal about the influence his compatriot is having on the team.

“I played with him in the national team and I know how important he is. He’s a great guy. And yes, it’s a privilege to have this guy in the dressing room,” Cunha said (quoted by Mirror).

Regarding rumors of his impending departure, Cunha added:

“We don’t know what his contract is in the end. And of course we’re all expecting a little bit more. Of course we know it’s more difficult than we talked about, but ultimately we don’t know.”

These comments come at a time when Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS Sports team are reportedly considering rationalizing their wage bills.

But Cunha’s public appeal highlights the value the 34-year-old still brings to a team that has appeared to have rejuvenated in recent months.

Casemiro became a big player for Man United under manager Michael Carrick.

A key factor in the potential U-turn is the midfielder’s rapid rise in form under caretaker manager Michael Carrick.

Since Carrick took over in mid-January, Casemiro has looked like a transformed player, forming a great partnership with Koby Mainu that provided defensive stability and decisive goals.

Casemiro has been a key figure in United’s late-season breakthrough. And while the player himself recently said his decision to leave was “done and done”, the growing bond between the player, coaching staff and fans who recently serenaded the Brazilian with chants of “one more year” may force him to reconsider.
