Manchester City are aiming to sign Enzo Fernandes from Chelsea, and the player is reported to be open to a move.
According to information shared with X, the 25-year-old Argentine midfielder is keen to work with Manchester City’s Enzo Maresca. The former Chelsea manager is expected to replace Josep Guardiola. The 46-year-old worked alongside Fernandes at Chelsea, while the 25-year-old enjoyed his football under the Italian manager. They now seem eager to reunite.
Sources shared on X:Negotiations are currently taking place between Enzo Maresca and Enzo Fernandes over a possible move to Manchester City. Enzo Fernandes is Maresca’s priority target this summer and the player is 100% open to a move as he wants to play in the Champions League.”
Maresca is reportedly in talks with Fernandes about a possible move and could be ready to move on in the summer. He wants to play in next season’s UEFA Champions League and Manchester City could offer him that stage.
Chelsea will not qualify for next season’s Champions League and will find it difficult to retain their top players. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop.
The 25-year-old has been outstanding for Chelsea, scoring 15 goals this season. He also recorded 7 assists. Fernandes has been their main source of creativity this season. He and Joao Pedro have carried Chelsea’s attack this season and we can’t afford to lose a player of his quality, especially against a direct rival.
Chelsea will be fighting for major trophies next season and will not want to sell one of their best players to Manchester City. It remains to be seen whether the 2022 World Cup winner decides to make a forced exit.
He has also been linked with clubs like Real Madrid.
