Arne Slott’s departure could lead to a shock U-turn for Liverpool’s star to leave the club

  • Will Mo Salah be able to return to Liverpool?
  • The Reds provided an opportunity to make a big call.

Days after Arne Slott was sacked as head coach, Mohamed Salah is reportedly open to returning to Liverpool if contacted by the club.

According to sources close to X, Salah is open to considering a return if Liverpool contact him.

The allegations come at a dramatic moment for the club, with Slott stepping down immediately following an end-of-season review.

Despite the Dutchman winning the Premier League during his time at Anfield, Liverpool have confirmed his departure and the club are now looking for a new direction.

Salah’s situation is interesting as it was already announced that he would be leaving Liverpool.

In March, Liverpool announced that the Egyptian forward would leave the club at the end of the 2025-26 season, ending a remarkable nine-year spell at Anfield.

Will Mo Salah be able to return to Liverpool?

He was scheduled to leave as a free agent after reaching an agreement with the club.

But football changes quickly. Immediately following Slott’s departure, there was speculation that Salah would reverse his decision.

According to some reports, fans are convinced that he could stay after Slot’s departure, especially since the relationship between the two sides was difficult during the season.

Salah has criticized Liverpool’s style under Slott and has made it clear he wants a return to the high-octane style of football of Jurgen Klopp’s era.

That’s why this moment is so important to Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards.

Liverpool are already undertaking major changes to their squad, with experienced players expected to leave and a new manager arrive.

Andoni Iraola is currently considered the most likely candidate to replace Slott, with Sebastian Hoeneß and Pierre Sarge also being named.

If Salah is serious about returning, Liverpool will have to make a big decision.

Although his form last season was not at his usual level, his influence, status and experience are still huge. Losing him would leave an already large hole in the offense.

The Reds provided an opportunity to make a big call.

If we can bring him back even for one more season, it could change the atmosphere at the club.

Liverpool should at least make a decision. That doesn’t mean they need to beg or change plans completely, but it would be strange to ignore the chance to keep one of the greatest players in history.

Salah is no longer in the long-term future, but he could still be part of the transition period.

With a new coach in place, keeping him could give Liverpool stability as they rebuild their attack.

What matters is the role and the pay. If Salah wants to be a central figure in the project and his finances are wise, this could be a smart U-turn.
