Newcastle United are reportedly looking for a new winger and have reportedly moved to Spain, with Victor Muñoz emerging as a serious target.
According to the Telegraph, the Magpies are considering the 22-year-old Osasna winger as a potential replacement for Anthony Gordon, who has completed his move to Barcelona.
Munoz is one of several wide players Newcastle are monitoring as Eddie Howe looks to rebuild his attack.
Gordon’s sale has changed Newcastle’s summer plans. Losing one of our most dangerous attackers is a big blow, but it also gives the club money.
Newcastle are currently considering options for the winger, with Muñoz valued at around £35m after an excellent season in La Liga, according to reports.
Newcastle United are impressed with Munoz
Muñoz is not yet famous in England, but his profile is very interesting.
Transfermarkt lists him as a 22-year-old Barcelona-born left winger who currently plays for CA Osasuna and is under contract until June 2030.
His market value is said to be 20 million euros, and he has already won two caps and scored one goal for Spain.
Spain’s progress is important. His inclusion in the World Cup national team shows how quickly his reputation has grown.
Magpies are looking to add attacking players
Newcastle United often focus on developing players rather than those already at superstar level, and Munoz fits right into that approach.
He is quick, direct, technically sharp and comfortable attacking from wide areas, making him exactly the kind of player who could help replace Gordon’s pace and ball-carrying.
However, this is not an easy deal. Osasuna will keep him on a long-term deal, while other clubs have also been linked.
Reports in Spain and England suggest Real Madrid may still have influence over his future, which could complicate a move.
