Tottenham Hotspur have weathered the storm of the 2025/26 season, erasing fears of being relegated to the Premier League after a narrow win over Everton on the final day.

It is currently being built by Roberto de Zerbi. Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi are set to link up with the London team after the North American World Cup, and ENIC are determined to sign a wealth of new players in central and attacking positions.

It is important to remember the scale of the rebuild before Johan Lange and the other decision makers. Tottenham need to combine big-money transfers with shrewd signings.

While fans may not be on the edge of their seats at first glance, the future signing of the expiring Premier League star could be one of the Lilywhites’ sharpest signings this summer.

The signings of Robertson and Senesi are shrewd and evidence of a strategy for Bosman’s move this summer. This is probably done with bigger fish in mind.

Tottenham need to sign an elite forward and playmaker this summer – Manchester City’s Sabinho has been finalized in a £60m deal – but with multiple signings required, it appears the board is not yet done with crafting small deals to support De Zerbi’s side.

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham are in contract talks with Harry Wilson this summer, with the 29-year-old becoming a free agent when his contract with Fulham expires at the end of this month.

Everton, Leeds United and West Ham are also said to be interested, but Aston Villa currently lead the race, with fresh contact with his agent expected this week. That said, Wilson intends to keep his options open, so the door certainly exists for Spurs to swoop in and convince Wilson to stay in London.

Wilson is experienced and has just completed his most productive season in the Premier League. Considering he is available on free, signing him seems like a no-brainer for Spurs, who need more depth.

Given the bang-for-the-money impact Wilson would bring to north London, he could even establish himself as a better player than Sabinho.

Why Harry Wilson is better than Sabinho

Fulham have parted ways with Marco Silva, who will become Benfica’s new manager this summer. Equally significant is the loss of Wilson, who was a “premier league in-form player” in January.

Wilson is one of England’s most underrated attackers. And after all these years, he seems to have realized his potential in dangerous areas, someone who is not only a threat but someone who can take on a central role and rack up goals and assists consistently.

He usually plays on the right flank but can also play in the middle and De Zerbi will undoubtedly be one of the best managers in the division to take the Welshman to another level.

After all, Wilson grows on the skin as a talisman. Praised by Marco Silva for his “incredible” attacking numbers, he could bring a different flavor to the Lilywhites’ set-up to Sabinho for these two reasons.

It goes without saying that Sabinho and Wilson failed to make an impact when they signed for Spurs this summer, but the latter is clearly the more complete player at this point. Seven years Savinho’s senior, he remains a consistent mainstay in the squad, but the Brazilian has started just seven Premier League games this year.

Apart from the evidence that Wilson is currently operating at a higher level, it is also worth remembering that Sabinho will come with a hefty transfer fee of around £60 million. He therefore falls under the same financial criteria as Dominic Solanke and Richarlison and will have to do his best to avoid frustrating comparisons.

Described as a “wizard” by Fulham writer Jack Kelly, the Welsh star is surprisingly smart in attack. He bides his time and often chooses the perfect spot to influence the opponent’s defensive structure.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can pull off both deals, but given Sabinho’s potential, Wilson could pack a stronger punch from the get-go, and Spurs need immediate relief after such a disappointing year.
