One Liverpool player who looks increasingly likely to leave in the near future is Italian winger Federico Chiesa, who is keen to return to Serie A.

There will certainly be changes to Liverpool’s squad this summer under new manager Andoni Iraola, and there may even be more departures than new arrivals.

As first reported by the Daily Briefing, it is understood that there are clubs looking to bring Chiesa back to Italy, with Napoli and Como the most interested at the moment.

According to sources familiar with the situation, Liverpool are likely to ask around 20 million euros for Chiesa’s release, although it is not yet clear whether interested clubs would be prepared to pay such a sum.

A source said: “Liverpool are open to making an offer for Chiesa this summer.” “Further discussions will take place between the club and the player during pre-season and it is expected that he will be informed of his possible departure.

“Napoli and Como are monitoring the situation, but Liverpool’s asking price is around 20 million euros, so they may initially explore the possibility of signing him on loan. Liverpool’s preference is for a permanent transfer, but let’s see if they are willing to discuss a compulsory loan.”

Other sources have suggested that Napoli and Como could make a concrete move for Chiesa in the near future, but the timeline is somewhat vague at the moment.

Liverpool and Iraola should discuss this matter in the near future, which should provide greater clarity and set a clear date for negotiations to begin.

Experienced players Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Ibrahima Konate all left the club on free transfers, with Iraola replacing Arne Slott as manager.

Liverpool now need to get rid of dead wood like Chiesa while bringing in new talent to replace these big names and ensure a strong transfer window.

But at the same time, someone like Chiesa could have avoided adding too much depth.
