The Daily Telegraph’s Matt Law reported today that Premier League teams are concerned that prices for central midfielders in particular will rise, with Elliott Anderson’s upcoming move from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City for more than £100m.
England midfield star could blow the market away
So any Premier League side wanting to sign a central midfielder, which likely includes Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United, will want to get a deal done before Anderson’s high transfer fee resets the market.
Players such as Adam Wharton and Alex Scott have been heavily linked with transfers in the coming months, and if Anderson lands a big-money move later this summer as expected, the fee that Crystal Palace and Bournemouth manage is likely to rise significantly.
As it stands, Chelsea’s signings of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandes for more than £100m each are benchmarks for elite players with top-level experience at a young age. If that ultimately happens, Anderson’s move is expected to match that, and potentially even surpass it.
In other news…
PSG and Arsenal are the two teams most closely linked with breakout World Cup star Ayoud Bouadi. But they would have to break records to sign him.
Ismael Saibari is closing in on a move to Bayern Munich and will undergo a medical in the United States in the coming days.
