Manchester United have now told all but two clubs around the world that they can sign one of their star players for a bargain price this summer.
The Red Devils are in a tough mood ahead of the summer transfer window, having already reached an agreement to sign Ederson from Atalanta. The Brazilian is set to begin summer business and Michael Carrick’s midfield rebuild, which could still feature some familiar names.
Alongside Ederson, Man United are also not giving up on signing Elliott Anderson. Nottingham Forest want a British record to sell the England international this summer and have already rejected a verbal offer from Manchester City that would have reached £120m including add-ons.
Better deal than Somerville: £40m star keen to join Man United
Man United could have an advantage when it comes to signing him next summer.
Matheus Fernandes is also a player to watch. For now, West Ham United have put forward a hefty offer of £85 million. But the question for Man United is how long they can maintain that form in the Championship, as the Old Trafford boss awaits a cheaper deal.
Of course, fundraising for these reinforcements will also play an important role in the club’s summer spending. This could see the likes of Manuel Ugarte leave and join Rasmus Hojlund, whose loan move to Napoli has been made permanent.
However, neither are big names looking to leave, with Man United offering a price to sell one of their star players.

Manchester United, Rashford name bargain price
Marcus Rashford may be the biggest question mark after Barcelona splashed out a whopping £69m to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
He had a great loan spell at Camp Nou but has yet to reap the rewards of a permanent transfer. This could put some clubs into a state of emergency.
Fabrizio Romano says every club in the world has a chance to sign Rashford this summer, apart from Liverpool and Man City.
This means he can move to another club for £40 million thanks to a previously kept secret release clause in his contract.
“Rashford’s contract has a release clause that is valid for all clubs except Man City and Liverpool. It is worth £40 million so it is available to any interested club.” – Romano
Man City and Liverpool have missed out on great opportunities, but other teams could be on their way as well. The England international contributed 28 goals in all competitions last season, including 14 goals and 14 assists, and could well end the summer as a World Cup winner.
At £40 million, the 28-year-old could be a bargain this summer if the right move happens.
