Chelsea are interested in signing Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix in the summer transfer window.
According to Ben Jacobs, they are interested in the 26-year-old defender and are looking to add more height and physicality to their defensive unit.
Lacroix was an outstanding player for the Eagles, helping them win the UEFA Europa League last season. He was recently instrumental in winning the FA Cup and Community Shield. It remains to be seen whether Crystal Palace are willing to allow him to leave.
They are going to compete in Europe next year and don’t want to lose their best player. They confirmed Marc Guehi’s departure in January and will not want to lose another quality defender too soon.
It remains to be seen how the player will react to Chelsea’s interest. He may be tempted to join the Blues. It would be a big step up in his career and he would be playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Chelsea had a disappointing season last year, missing out on qualifying for the Champions League. They want to bounce back strongly and need more quality players at their disposal. They have brought in Xabi Alonso as their new manager, and the former Real Madrid manager will look to address the team’s weaknesses.
Meanwhile, Ben Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea are also keeping an eye on Como defender Jacobo Ramon. He is a young player who has recently been linked with several teams.
It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be able to sign the Crystal Palace star in the coming weeks. Ramon could be an interesting replacement if a deal cannot be reached with the Eagles.
