  • Liverpool agree personal terms to sign talented youngster
  • Why Diomande is a better talent than Ngmoha for Liverpool
        • He’s a little Diomand: Liverpool make offer to sign exciting winger

Ambition, integrity and unity – three values that have been engrained at Liverpool Football Club from the establishment of the academy to the first team.

That’s the first explanation fans give when it comes to what they expect from a new player when he steps into Anfield.

Reds fans’ expectations will be just as high this summer as Andoni Iraola looks to make his mark on the team ahead of his debut season in charge in 2026/27.

He also demands a lot from his players, as seen during his recent spell as Bournemouth manager, earning a reputation for his intense pressing and heavy-metal attacking style.

It’s no surprise that the 44-year-old has already begun eyeing a number of additions in key areas to his squad in order to become the next manager adored by Merseyside supporters.

Liverpool agree personal terms to sign talented youngster

Iraola’s 4-2-3-1 system requires two top-quality ball-winners in the heart of midfield, which is why Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmeka has been linked with a move to the Reds.

In recent days, it has been reported that Liverpool have already contacted the player’s agent to obtain the information they need to sign him.

Manchester United are also firmly in the race to sign the 25-year-old star, who could command a transfer fee of at least £60m following his recent star performances at the ongoing World Cup.

RB Leipzig winger Yann Diomande has been linked with a move to Anfield, and the German is not the only Bundesliga player to be a key target for Iraola’s side.

According to Media Foot, Liverpool have agreed personal terms with the Ivorian international ahead of a move to England in the near future.

The paper also states that the 19-year-old is the club’s top attacking transfer target and are willing to pay a small sum to secure his contract ahead of Champions League holders PSG.

His current employers have set his asking price at over £100m, and although a transfer fee has not yet been agreed between the two clubs, it is clear that the player himself has his sights set on a future on Merseyside.

Why Diomande is a better talent than Ngmoha for Liverpool

Anfield will need summer reinforcements, but there is no denying there is still plenty of talent in the senior ranks, with teenager Rio Ngmoha potentially playing a big role under Iraola.

The 17-year-old made his breakthrough on Merseyside last time out, making 19 league appearances and managing to find the back of the net twice.

His shots against Newcastle United and Fulham showed his quality in attacking areas, but there is no denying that he will get even better as he matures as a footballer.

The youngster’s impressive form has not gone unnoticed by others, as manager Thomas Tuchel included him in England’s squad for the pre-World Cup training campaign.

His age may be a concern for many, but Iraola will have to manage the expectations placed on an attacker to continue his rapid development at Anfield.

However, his progress could stall during the 2026/27 season, especially if the Reds are able to reach a full agreement with RB Leipzig for Diomande in the coming weeks.

The Ivorian will undoubtedly arrive on Merseyside as one of the club’s regular wide starters, but in that case Ngmoha may have to settle in to make an impact off the bench.

The 19-year-old enjoyed his breakthrough season in the Bundesliga last season, following up with a string of achievements that blow away the numbers recorded by the current Reds star.

Diomande, described by analyst Bence Boksak as a “generational player”, has an astonishing success rate of 4.3 successful dribbles per 90, the most of any player in Germany’s top flight.

The aforementioned record is higher than that set by the Liverpool teenager, who often had fans on the edge of their seats with his fearless and persistent attacking attempts.

It wasn’t just here that the RB Leipzig star was able to dominate, as his 12 goals in the league showed, and he was also able to put the finishing touches on his wanderings.

That figure is six times that of the England superstar, perhaps making a £100m transfer target a more comprehensive current option for Iraola.

Diomande also managed to create more chances for his team-mates per 90 points, and subsequently enabled the players around him to further increase their own goalscoring numbers at Anfield.

There’s no denying that Ngmoha is a very exciting prospect and one who will undoubtedly become a regular starter on Merseyside in the future.

However, with the departure of Diomande, he may have to settle for making an impact in his few minutes off the bench and learn his trade from the Ivory Coast international for the time being.
