Liverpool want to get the job done early in the transfer window, but with preparations suspended due to the World Cup, it was always unrealistic to make any major changes during June.

But they weren’t lazy. Liverpool have already hijacked Newcastle United’s £34.5m transfer fee for Victor Munoz. He joins from Osasuna and is expected to do big things as he is fast, flashy and has a ferocious force on the wing.

The Premier League wasn’t a happy hunting ground for the Reds last season, but they at least returned to Champions League football after finishing fifth.

However, with Arne Slott forced to leave, the hope now is that Andoni Iraola’s intense and proactive tactical approach will benefit a Liverpool team looking to challenge for the title.

Munoz has talent, but he won’t lead a comeback. Yann Diomande could be too, but the Ivorian winger has hinted he wants to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Losing Diomand is a blow, but he’s not the only elite forward FSG is eyeing.

There may be a slim chance that Diomande will sign for Liverpool before the end of the summer, but this should not derail Liverpool’s transfer plans.

Liverpool showed they can pull off a deal last year when they paid a British record £125m for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, but sporting director Richard Hughes will need to pull a similar trick out of his bag now that Mohamed Salah has left the club on a free transfer.

It’s easier said than done, but Liverpool should be encouraged that their World Cup star is interested in a job at Anfield.

This comes as the Daily Mail has revealed that Liverpool are interested in signing Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, putting the 23-year-old’s future at the Parc des Princes in doubt.

This is of course no secret, but it is interesting to note that the dynamic French attacker is interested in a job at Anfield and is keen to listen to suitors such as the Reds and Arsenal.

The Les Bleus star is one of the most exciting wingers in the world, but he hasn’t been able to get as much playing time as he would have liked in Luis Enrique’s super team. Still, it could cost Liverpool as much as £116m.

Why Barcola could be Liverpool’s next Isaac

Liverpool made some top-notch signings last summer, but things didn’t come together under Slott’s direction. The Dutchman achieved incredible results in the previous year and now is a time when precision is needed in the transfer market.

However, 34 goals and 28 assists in two seasons at a prestigious club like PSG did not prove his world-class potential, with analyst and Como scout Ben Mattinson hailing him as “one of the best left wingers in the world”.

Barcola dances when the ball is at his feet. To him, soccer is an art, something that should be cherished and executed with grace and grace. He’s shown his A-game and is sharp, but it has to be said that Barcola needs to develop more of his killer instinct in front of goal.

If Iraola can improve his form, as he did with Antoine Semenyo at Bournemouth, for example, Barcola could become the perfect big-money signing, perhaps in the way Liverpool considered Isak, a world-class striker who scored just three goals in the injury-hit 2025-26 campaign.

Isak, 27, will be expected to bounce back, while Barcola will be expected to hit the ground running with a system that is certainly more sophisticated than Liverpool fans saw last year.

He is a versatile and free-moving forward, and Barcola has proven to club and country that he has a natural ability to create shocking moments in dangerous areas. If he can maintain and increase his moments, Liverpool will have another talisman to match the likes of Isak.

If France win this year’s World Cup, Barcola will be instrumental in that feat after winning back-to-back Champions League titles and making a name for himself in his homeland with one of the greatest teams of the time.

Barcola is far from a finished product, but he has the potential to become a superstar at Anfield, and given that he arrives for more than £100m at a time when Liverpool need a talisman, he could potentially repeat the signing of Issac a year ago, and hopefully with a more emphatic effect.
