Crystal Palace may struggle to retain French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta this summer as Nottingham Forest look for a new striker.
That is the view of former Premier League scout Mick Brown, who believes Palace are unlikely to be in a good position regarding Mateta’s future.

The France international has one year left on his contract at Selhurst Park and Brown believes his former manager Oliver Glasner is looking to take him to new club Forest.
Manchester United are also reportedly considering Mateta as one of their back-up plans up front, but perhaps a club like Forest may be more likely to sign the 29-year-old.
Jean-Philippe Mateta hints at possibility of leaving Crystal Palace
Speaking to Football Insider about Mateta’s future, Brown said: “Crystal Palace may be powerless regarding Mateta’s future this summer.”
“Given his contract situation and the idea that he wanted to move in January, he could be presented with an offer he can’t refuse.
“The buzz at the moment is Nottingham Forest, they are interested in signing a new striker and Mateta would tick a lot of boxes.
“He’s scored goals in the Premier League, so that instantly upgrades the current options and it’s interesting that Glasner will also be playing in the Premier League.”

“So if Forest come with a big offer for Mateta, Palace may have to let him go because otherwise it may be difficult to keep him.”
Crystal Palace struggle to retain key players
Losing Mateta will be a blow to Palace, especially with Glasner stepping down as manager. Other key players have also left the club recently.
Ebereshi Eze moved to Arsenal last summer, while Marc Gehi moved to Manchester City in January.
We also understand that there is some doubt over Adam Wharton’s future at Palace, even if nothing has been done to sign him with another club yet.
However, Forest have their own problems, including star midfielder Elliott Anderson’s big-money move to Man City.
