  • Leeds are keeping an eye on Nyland
  • Orjan Nyland could be a bargain addition

Leeds United could make a move for Norwegian goalkeeper Orjan Nyland.

He is currently a free agent after his contract with Sevilla expired and has been outstanding for his country at the ongoing World Cup. Mick Brown says Leeds could consider signing the player this summer.

Leeds are keeping an eye on Nyland

“They know they need a new goalkeeper and the scouts will be looking at some of their targets and at the same time they will be looking at the World Cup.

“Norwegian goalkeeper Orjan Nyland has done very well in all competitions so far and I would be very surprised if he wasn’t someone they would keep an eye on.

“If he can perform as well at Leeds as he has in previous Norwegian internationals, he would be a huge upgrade over their current options and they could certainly do much worse.

“His age is probably not ideal and it won’t be a forward-looking contract, but it’s definitely something to explore on a free transfer.”

It’s no secret that more quality is needed in the goalkeeping department. Karl Darlow was in the twilight stage of his career, and Illan Meslier left the club after his contract expired.

Orjan Nyland could be a bargain addition

Leeds United need to invest in a reliable keeper and Nyland could be an exceptional signing. He has performed at a high level in the World Cup. He has the quality to succeed in the Premier League. However, Nyland is 35 years old and would only be a short-term acquisition.

At this stage of his career, the opportunity to move to England would be an exciting one for him. It’s not that difficult to get players to join the club. He has also played for Aston Villa in the past.

Furthermore, signing a player of quality and experience on a free transfer could be a masterpiece.

Leeds need to improve in multiple areas of their team and signing a quality goalkeeper like him on a free will allow them to invest in other areas as well.

It remains to be seen how the situation will develop in the coming weeks.
