Tottenham full-back Pedro Polo scored in Spain’s 2-0 win over France in the 2026 World Cup semi-final tonight.
It was a great move and a great finish from Polo, who showed his quality and confidence as a centre-forward as he got past French goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

But if you watch the video clip below, you’ll see that Aston Villa’s left-back Lucas Digne is completely asleep, giving Polo acres of space on that side…
Polo made no mistakes after being played very well, but Digne was made much easier as he was completely unable to find or track his runs.
Spain to thrilling victory over France
Spain will be the favorites to win this match, as it will be difficult for even the French team to score three late goals at this stage.
Les Bleus have long been seen as favorites to win this year’s World Cup, but it appears their tournament is coming to an end.
To be fair, Spain won Euro 2024 two years ago and looked like one of the favorites to go all the way in this tournament.
Spain last won this trophy in 2010, which is also the only victory in their history, but if they win this game they will probably now become the clear favorites.
It’s a statement of sorts to defeat the French team, with the Spanish defense able to contain the talents of elite attacking players such as Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembele and Michael Oliseh.
To be fair, one of the big problems for France was William Saliba’s injury in the first half. The Arsenal defender is one of the best in the world in his position and one of his country’s most important players.
