Ben Jacobs says Tottenham are interested in signing West Ham United winger Crisencio Somerville this summer.

The Dutch international is likely to leave West Ham following their relegation from the Premier League to the Championship, with numerous rumors circulating of a move to other big clubs.

In an interview with Give Me Sport, Jacobs also named Manchester United as a potential suitor for Somerville, warning that Spurs fans probably can’t keep expecting more business like the crazy last 24 hours, when they twice broke transfer records to sign Matheus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali.

Regarding Tottenham’s transfer activity, Jacobs said that next on the agenda was a winger, with Somerville likely to be a player to watch alongside Manchester City’s Savinho.

“Spurs fans are saying, ‘Why are we so quiet?’ Because they’ve been so busy!” Jacobs explained.

“But they don’t break the club’s transfer record every day, like they did in 24 hours from Matheus Fernandes to Sandro Tonali. But they are working hard on the field. It’s fair to say that.”

“With the extension of Kinski and the arrival of Dubravka, the goalkeeping situation has been sorted out. A defender has arrived, a midfielder has arrived and now Tottenham want a starting left winger or attacker as a priority.”

“Negotiations with Sabinho are ongoing, but he is not the only target. Crisencio Somerville, Manchester United and recently Roma are also involved.”

Tottenham need a good transfer window

THFC would be wise to continue spending and changing this squad after two consecutive seasons of terrible results in the Premier League.

Despite the joy of winning the final Europa League title in 2024/25, North Londoners are struggling with a consecutive 17th place finish and will need to do even better in the new season.

Bringing in players like Fernandes and Tonali looks like a major statement under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, and quality attackers like Somerville and Savinho could also help.

It is also reported that Kodi Gakpo is Spurs’ other top target for the position, but none of these deals seem to be progressing particularly quickly at the moment.
