Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi is keen to improve his squad after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League last season.
The Lilywhites are currently looking to strengthen their front line, having already signed Marcos Senesi, Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke.
One attacker who continues to attract attention for the club is Manchester City winger Sabinho, who was targeted by former Spurs manager Thomas Frank last summer.
Tottenham are hoping to strike a deal with their Premier League rivals to bring the Brazil international to north London to strengthen their options in the side.
Why Tottenham should avoid signing Savinho
However, Spurs should avoid signing Sabinho from the Cityzens as they already have a similar player with the same weaknesses in Mohamed Kudus.
The club spent £55 million last year to sign Kudus from West Ham United, who scored five goals in 35 games for the Hammers in 2024-25, but only scored three goals in 26 games for the Lilywhites last season.
Sabinho, like the Ghanaian international, is a left-footed wide player and a forward who has yet to score regularly in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old star has shown great creativity with 13 assists in the last two seasons for City, but he has only scored seven goals in 84 appearances in all competitions.

the goal | 1 | 1 |
missed a big opportunity | 6 | 6 |

Savinho has scored two goals from 7.34xG in the last two Premier League seasons, but has missed 12 ‘big chances’. This shows that he is incredibly inefficient in front of goal.
He is similar to Kudus, who scored 7 goals from 8.83 xG in those two seasons. That’s why Spurs should be looking for wingers with different profiles so that no two players have the same weaknesses in that area of the pitch.
Spurs in contract talks with winger better than Sabinho
However, the club are considering another winger who has a different profile to the player De Zerbi currently has at his disposal and would be a more impactful signing than Savinho.
Football Insider has reported that Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs interested in signing Andreas Schjelderup from Benfica in the summer transfer window.
The paper claims the Lilywhites have contacted the Portuguese giants to begin negotiations over a possible transfer for the Norwegian international in the coming weeks.
The paper added that the 22-year-old forward is likely to leave Benfica as he is not ready for a contract extension, in which case he could be considered for a sale this summer.
The Norwegian international, valued at £34 million, would be a far more impactful signing than Savinho given his track record in the final third in 2025-26.

Schjerderup contributed 11 goals in Portuguese La Liga for Benfica last season, nine more goals than the Brazilian international scored for Manchester City, and surpassed his xG in the process.
The Norwegian star, a right-handed forward who can play on the left or right, has scored 10 goals and provided five assists in all competitions for the club, including two goals in seven Champions League games.
Kjelderup, who analyst Filipe Souza claimed has “world-class potential”, proved his quality on the world stage when he represented Norway at this summer’s World Cup.
The Spurs target scored one goal in the quarter-final against England and provided three assists in six games for Norway, despite starting only two games.
All of his goal contributions came against top nations, with a goal against England, an assist against France and two goals against Brazil in the last 16.
The £34m-rated star’s performances at the World Cup suggest he is likely to be able to adapt to the quality of the Premier League, and he has already shown that he can combine the best of the Premier League against top nations.
Schjelderup would therefore be a better and more impactful signing than Sabinho, who does not offer as much at the top end of the pitch and was not selected for Brazil’s World Cup squad.
