Romano’s latest update on Garnacho at Aston Villa

Transfer official Fabrizio Romano confirmed his breakthrough with X by signing off: “Here we go!” Update to conclude the contract:

“Exclusive: Aston Villa agree to contract with Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea, let’s go! The deal between the clubs was completed as a loan with a buy-out clause, which is mandatory under certain conditions. Unai Emery wanted Garnacho. He has also booked a medical.”

The deal guarantees Garnacho an immediate fresh start in the West Midlands after he struggled to cement a permanent starting spot at Stamford Bridge.

Medical tests have already been scheduled as Villa rush to complete paperwork ahead of pre-season integration.

How Chelsea and Aston Villa can mutually benefit financially

The transfer forms part of a highly strategic financial dynamic between the two Premier League clubs.

Chelsea recently made a huge signing of Morgan Rodgers from Aston Villa for a record-breaking £117m.

The blockbuster deal provided Villa with a huge amount of capital while leaving an immediate void in Emery’s attacking line-up.

By structuring Garnacho’s transfer as an initial loan with a conditional compulsory buyout clause, both clubs will smoothly navigate the Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).

Aston Villa: Instantly reinvest in Premier League proven talent without significant up-front investment, while recovering significant net profits from Rodgers and meeting compliance metrics.

Chelsea: Offsetting Rogers’ significant fee expense by removing Garnacho’s salary from the books while ensuring a structured future fee to amortize the initial investment in Rogers.

This mutually beneficial arrangement ensures that both clubs strengthen their respective teams while remaining comfortably within Financial Fair Play.
