The Rocket Classic will be in its eighth and final installment. The tournament, held annually in Detroit since 2019, will take on a new shape as it closes its doors on the PGA Tour. The 2026 version of the event will serve as the penultimate tournament of the PGA Tour regular season, with a strong field stepping into the recently renovated Detroit Golf Club.
The works were carried out with the aim of restoring the functionality that architect Donald Ross had intended to play in the complex role within the golf course. Detroit Golf Club aims to offer participants new challenges while retaining an old-school feel. There’s a lot coming up in the final two weeks of the year, with many celebrities taking part in a trip to the Motor City highlighted by a large American contingent.
Repeat champions Cameron Young, Windham Clark and Chris Gottapp will finish out the regular season at the Rocket Classic, while Xander Schauffele, Russell Henry, J.J. Spaun, Ben Griffin and Patrick Cantlay will also start alongside them.
Recent 3M Open winner Jackson Koibun continues his climb into the upper echelons of the game, with former three-time major champion Jordan Spieth making his first start since a disappointing cut at Royal Birkdale.
Koibun is now 70th in the FedEx Cup standings after his win, and while both players are on the bubble, Spieth is in the top-50 bubble for the second straight season at 55th. They will be looking to make a road appearance this week, along with Andrew Putnam, Mac Meisner and Johnny Keefer, who are 71st to 73rd, respectively, in the FedEx Cup.

- Cameron Young (10-1): Detroit was on the brink of winning for the first time in 2022 and 2024, when Young broke his driver on the back nine of the final round out of frustration. The three-time PGA Tour winner has changed in many ways since then. - Patrick Cantlay (22-1): Unlike his usual opponents, Cantlay is on the field out of necessity. The former FedEx Cup champion, who is outside the top 30 and tends to be inside the top 50, needs a kick in the right direction. Cantlay is one of only three players to finish in the top 10 this year, and all of those have been since the week before the PGA Championship. This week presents him with a strong chance to get his name back on the first page of the leaderboard.
- Jackson Koibun (23-1): Just three games into his PGA Tour career, he’s already tied Tommy Fleetwood for the most wins. What will you do at the encore? The way he carries himself suggests things will continue to be business as usual, especially as a new North Star materializes in the form of the postseason. The win at the 3M Open vaulted Koibun into the 70th-place bubble in the season-long race, giving him an impressive berth into the playoffs in limited appearances.
