Goyang, South Korea — Canada’s Brooke Henderson and Taiwan’s Weilin Su defeated Sweden’s Madelen Sagström and Ingrid Lindblad 4-3 on Saturday to earn a spot on the world team to the International Crown semifinals.

With this win, the World Team now has three wins and two ties in the LPGA team event held at New Korea Country Club, giving them fourth place in Pool B.

In the subsequent match, Sweden’s Maya Stark and Lynne Grant defeated Charlie Hull and Lydia Ko of the world team 3-1.

Australia also advanced to the semi-finals from Pool A, and Japan also advanced from Pool B.

“I’ve been waiting a long time to make the World Team, and I’m just grateful to be a part of this team,” Henderson said. “It’s been a great opportunity so far. I love my partners here. (Weylin) saved me a lot here today and she’s played great all week. It’s been a lot of fun and I’m really looking forward to tomorrow.”

Heading into Saturday’s final round of four-ball matches, the United States had already clinched a spot in the semifinals from Pool A by winning the first four four-ball matches.

The tournament format sees seven countries and “rest of the world” teams competing in two pools. The teams and their players were determined by the women’s world rankings.

The top two countries from each pool will advance to Sunday’s semi-finals and final, which will consist of one foursomes match (alternating shots) and two singles matches.

Last week, Kim Sei-young won the BMW Ladies Championship, which was also held in South Korea. The LPGA Asia Swing continues next week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and concludes in Shiga, Japan from November 6th to 9th.
