Real Madrid defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is unhappy with his situation at the Spanish club and reportedly wishes he had signed a new contract with Liverpool.
According to Spanish publication El Nacional, the defender was struggling at Spanish clubs and wanted to stay with his boyhood club. The right-back had the option to sign a new contract with Liverpool and remain at the club. However, he decided to leave the team on a free transfer.
So far, the move to Real Madrid hasn’t worked out for him. He had injury problems and his performances were mediocre. He has struggled to gain regular minutes at the Spanish club. It will be interesting to see if he can redeem himself and secure a regular spot in Real Madrid’s starting XI.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are also missing out on players like him. They missed his adventurous departure from the depths.
There is no doubt that the England international is a quality player and is at the peak of his career. There’s no reason he can’t get back to his best form in the coming months.
Real Madrid will be hoping that he can establish himself as a key player at the club. They need players with the skillset to break the line from deep.
Alexander-Arnold is still adjusting to life in Spain and could improve in the coming months.
Real Madrid will probably have to be patient with him and allow him to regain his form and confidence over time.
There is a lot of pressure on the England international and that makes things difficult for him. The player is currently trying to cement his place in the England squad for the upcoming World Cup. He will be desperate to take part in a huge event against his country, but it remains to be seen whether he can bounce back strongly.
