Chelsea are reportedly the favorites to secure a move for Bayer Leverkusen prodigy Kerim Alaibegovic, thanks to Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea’s new manager knows Alaibegovic from his time with Leverkusen and the 18-year-old, valued at £30m, is believed to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

This comes from an exclusive report by the Telegraph this morning, which shows Chelsea are once again focused on signing one of the world’s best young players.

According to reports, Juventus are also interested in Alaybegovic, but Alonso is keen to work with him at Chelsea and the Bosnia and Herzegovina international should now be heading to west London.

Chelsea’s summer transfer window so far

Alaybegovic looks like a great signing for Chelsea, although he is probably more of a player of the future than a player who will slot directly into Alonso’s side.

The deal follows other exciting signings with CFC as they also confirm the additions of Morgan Rogers, Marco Palestra, Giovanny Quenda and Emmanuel Emega.

Meanwhile, Marc Cucurella was one of the big names to leave Chelsea for Real Madrid, while youngsters Andrej Santos and Tyrik George were sold to Manchester United and Everton respectively.

Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho could be the latest departure for Chelsea in the near future, according to Fabrizio Romano’s post below…

Romano posted: “Aston Villa agrees to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea, let’s go! An agreement has been reached between the clubs on a loan with a mandatory buy-out clause under certain conditions. Unai Emery wanted Garnacho. Medical booked.”

Chelsea fans will be happy with Rodgers’ signing, but selling Cucurella is likely to be a big blow, and it’s unclear whether signing youngsters like Alaibegovic, Quenda and Palestra will do much to strengthen Alonso’s squad right away.
