Liverpool hopes to sign a new central defender this summer after Jarrell Kuansa sets out for Bayer Lebakusen. And my favourite to arrive at Anfield is Marc Guech from Crystal Palace.

Guehi has less than 12 months left on the Crystal Palace deal, so Liverpool believes they can cut back. However, the other clubs have been able to participate in the race as they have not yet reached an agreement, but these efforts are expected to end up being wasted.

According to a soccer insider, Mick Brown has revealed that Tottenham has returned to bids for Gehi, but Liverpool is a solid favorite to sign him – this summer or 2026.

“Tottenham was looking at Mark Guehe again. They want to sign centre-back. He was rejected in January, so he’s on their list.

“Because I love Liverpool, he wants to go to the top side where he has a consistent opportunity to win things like the Premier League and Champions League.

“They are definitely interested in him, so I hope they will make another offer at one stage. But if that doesn’t happen, it wasn’t too shocking to wait for him to stay at the palace for another season and go to Liverpool on a free transfer.

“Even if Tottenham comes for him, I think he would prefer to wait and see other things. There’s always uncertainty about Tottenham, he wants to go somewhere.

Liverpool expects to sign Guehi this summer, but are ready to pursue other targets if Crystal Palace ask price doesn’t drop. Even if someone else is brought in, it’s not surprising to see England International in Anfield in 2026, especially if Ibrahima Conate goes to Real Madrid.
