  • Tottenham star James Madison has been hit by a major injury
  • Spurs miss Madison in a challenging season

Tottenham Hotspur has been dealing with big sets ahead of the new campaign.

According to the BBC, the 28-year-old England International will suffer damage to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and undergo surgery in the next few days.

The injury occurred during Tottenham’s recent preseason fixture against Newcastle United in South Korea.

Tottenham star James Madison has been hit by a major injury

Madison collapsed in visible pain after the contactless incident, quickly grabbed her knee and was seen requiring attention on the field from the medical team.

Fans were afraid of the worst of the day. These fears are now confirmed, revealing a ruptured ACL in the right knee.

Madison’s upcoming surgery marks the beginning of a long recovery journey where he can see the most, if not all, of the 2025/26 season.

Typical rehabilitation of ACL damage ranges from 6 to 9 months, depending on the severity of the injury and progression of recovery.

For Tottenham, that means preparing for the campaign without one of their creative players.

Madison was expected to play a key role under manager Thomas Frank. Tottenham in particular was keen to put serious challenges on European qualifications.

The Spurs will also be involved in the Champions League next season after the Europa League victory confirms qualifying for European elite competitions.

The injury also casts a shadow over Madison’s international outlook. Madison’s chance to represent the UK next summer was a huge hit as he is a player who wants to perform well to prepare for next year’s World Cup and earn a national position.
