BANDUN, Oregon – Mega Ganne won three straight holes against miss-prone Brooke Beermann and won her first USGA title on Sunday with a 4-3 victory in the US women’s amateur.

Three times when Beerman scored the hall in the afternoon, Ganne responded with a birdie, and it was only a matter of time before he could win by up four. Beermann went smoothly twice over the greenery twice in the afternoon, and admitted the hole. She does not put any pressure on Ganne.

“Brook didn’t make it easier for me. She had so many fights,” Gunne said. “This was probably my last female amateur and I really, really wanted to accomplish this.”

Ganne, who will start her senior year at Stanford next month, has been following the USGA title for nearly a decade. She arrived in the US Women’s Amateur semi-finals at the age of 15 in 2019, losing to Albamba Lezuela on 19 holes.

She took few chances at Bandon Dunes.

Ganne went 4 down on seven holes and played in the semi-finals against Ella Saysbrook, forcing the extra hole he won with a birdie on the 19th hole.

There wasn’t much drama in the championship match. Ganne never followed, but each player got three holes, 11 holes in the morning and all matches were square.

Biermann lost the next three holes at the Bogeys and never caught up. Ganne was 3 up after 18 holes and Beerman never approached.

“The Mega is a great player,” Beerman said. “I was trying to keep it to my own mind. Unfortunately, the putter was cold today. Overall, it felt like I’d given it all. It exploded here.”

Beerman, who had just finished his college career in Michigan, fought at least to stay in the game. Hole 14 had a 20-foot pad from the green collar. She had to make it and play a deficit two down in four holes.

But Beerman made it shorter, missed the next putt and suddenly he went down four and four. Ganne closed the match with two putts in PAR from 15 feet on the next hole.

“I can’t believe I’m standing here right now,” Ganne said, saying she had the trophy. “I’m not going to lie. I was thinking about this trophy all day.”
