It is the flagship event of the DP World Tour, and all of its stars are licking chops trying to get the 2025 BMW PGA Championship. Welcoming the best players on the DP World Tour once again, Wentworth will serve as a site this week for top players across the pond to publish it.

The BMW PGA Championship has won the best champions in recent years, including Billy Horschel, Ryan Fox, Tyrrell Hutton and Shane Lowry. It serves as a site where European Ryder Cup teams are sent to New York for biennial match-play events against Americans. In fact, 11 of the 12 European players tee it at the BMW PGA Championship, and Cep Straca is an outlier as he recently welcomed children into the world.

This is nothing new to Europeans who went through a similar preparation process two years ago and got successful results. Luke Donald placed potential pairings at the same tee time in the first two rounds, so most teams played well with each other. John Lahm suggests that similar items will be in store this year.

“It’s obviously because I want to do well at the event, but obviously I need time to get together for the afternoons and dinner the early days, the better,” Rahm said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if my Ryder Cup teammates played together this week and spent more time on the golf course, like in the past. But I don’t have much to say.”

All eyes are no surprise to the European team, made up of recent Irish Open winner Rory McIlroy. In addition to Rahm, Hatton, Raleigh, Robert McIntyre, Rubaig Massielle, Victor Hobrand and some, there are recent Tour Championship winner Tommy Fleetwood.

Recently selected vice captain Alex Noren is looking for his second victory in his final three starts as the Swedes continue to find his footing on the professional circuit. Patrick Reed, Siu Kim, Aaron Ly, Corey Connors, Ryan Gerald, and many others on the LIV Golf and PGA Tour will travel as well, making it another must-see BMW PGA Championship on the DP World Tour.

2025 BMW PGA Championship Odds, Field

Odds via Fanduel Sportsbook

  • John Rahm (11/2): Rahm has not yet entered the winner’s circle in 2025. Because his consistency carried him to the second straight crown of Liv Golf. The form of the Spaniard who won the team championship alongside Hatton and others is not an issue. After missing last year’s tournament, Rahm returns to Wentworth, finishing in 2nd, T2 and 4th place on three trips.
  • Rory McIlroy (11/2): Far away, McIlroy has experienced the best putting campaign of his performance career. The Northern Irishman scored nearly +0.70 strokes on the green per round and was caught up in four victories, including last week’s Irish Open. In this caliber field, McIlroy’s iron play may need to take a small step, but at Wentworth, like when he won in 2014 or 2018-24, when he finished in the top 10 in each tournament play.
  • Tommy Fleetwood (9-1): Fleetwood is currently leaving the monkeys from the back of the US, but he was asked about the monkeys on the back of the UK at a pre-tournament press conference. Without a victory in his hometown, the British are trying to check out other achievements from his to-do list. Fleetwood, the best golfer of his life, will be in a real battle that he doesn’t play as often as his counterpart at the BMW PGA Championship.
  • LudvigÅberg (16-1): Shortly after being selected for the 2023 Ryder Cup team, Åberg climbed the 54-hole lead with his first BMW PGA Championship appearance. Backtracking the top 10 finish will bring the Swedes back on a subtle wave of waves. The 25-year-old had three top 10 in his final five starts and began to find his touch in and around Green, but this wasn’t the case at the beginning of the summer.
  • Tyrrell Hutton (16-1): The 2020 champions haven’t done much since opening as they finished their LIV golf season with three consecutive finishes outside the top 20. Already a winner and runner-up in his final appearance in 2023, he couldn’t seek a better right spot.
  • Joaquin Niemann (20-1)
  • Matt Fitzpatrick (22-1): You wouldn’t be surprised if Fitzpatrick found pay stains coming on Sunday. The British may have missed the tour championship, but he has been one of the most consistent players in the world since the PGA Championship. He has a quality start on his DP World Tour with British Masters and European Masters. He only drives his hair better to win those competitions.
  • Viktor Hovland (22-1): The putter is beginning to get hot, his short game is stable, and Hofland was Scotty Scheffler’s second-best iron player on the 2025 PGA Tour. Oddly, he was his driver who thwarted him, but the Norwegians also inloaded in recent tournaments that led the BMW Championship and a big stick leading the T12 at the T12 at the T12. He has a back-to-back top-5 finishes in his final two starts at Wentworth.
  • Aaron Rye (27-1)
  • Robert McIntyre (30-1): Macintyre hasn’t done much with Wentworth, but he hasn’t even arrived like this version of himself. Having improved year by year and made a massive leap in 2025, the Scots have fought for major championships, found a chain of consistency and became an elite professional golfer. He was stable throughout his bag and rolled the rocks beautifully throughout the FedEx Cup playoffs.
  • Shane Laurie (30-1): Raleigh’s ironplay remains the desire of his companions, but it is the rest of the game that holds the key to the kingdom. His short game fell surprisingly well, and his drivers became ridiculous that he hasn’t had a top-10 finish since his close call in the trumpers championship. The good news is that he put a new driver in an Irish Open bag and quickly saw the results and put together some of his best driving performances since the Florida swing. He has not finished outside the top 20 in this tournament since 2016 and won in 2022.

2025 BMW PGA Championship Prediction

McIlroy has a form, but more importantly, he is engaged. After sleeping through the FedEx Cup playoffs, World No. 2 reestablished the bounce with his step as noted in his playoff victory at the Irish Open, which revenged his close call from before the season. McIlroy faces a similar opportunity this week as he fell to Billy Horchel in the playoffs at last year’s championship after failing to make a birdie on the par-5 finisher in regulation this week. He drives the ball like he did before the PGA Championship and remains as effective as ever. In a comfortable place like Wentworth, McIlroy can be separated from the pack using both. Prediction: Rory McIlroy (11/2)
