Chelsea are interested in signing Nottingham Forest defender Murillo in the coming months.

The 23-year-old Brazilian defender has had a fantastic spell at Nottingham Forest and would be a quality signing for Chelsea.

Mick Brown told Football Insider: “Murillo has done a really, really good job for Forest.

“Chelsea need a centre-back but they don’t have enough at the back to challenge for the title.

“They are aware of that and they will look at it in January because they have already suffered a lot of injuries this season.

“Obviously Murillo will be on their radar. He’s been on the radar for a while because he’s been great for Nottingham Forest. They’re not the only club keeping an eye on him.”

Chelsea could use Murillo

They need more quality and depth in their defensive unit. They have multiple injuries to their backs and need to step up their defense. The South American defender will be attracted to the idea of joining one of the country’s biggest clubs. A move to Chelsea could be the ideal next step in his career. Then he will be able to fight for major trophies and regularly feature in European football.

Murillo is still young enough to develop and with the right guidance he could develop into a key player for Chelsea. It will be interesting to see if they can get a deal done. They are not alone in their enthusiasm for the Brazilian, with several teams keeping an eye on him.

Murillo could command a premium.

Nottingham Forest will not want to lose a key player like him and could easily command a premium. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea are prepared to break the bank for the Brazilian defender. They have a great squad and signing a quality defender could take them to a whole new level.

It will not be difficult for Chelsea to convince the defender to join the club. First he will need to negotiate a reasonable contract with his club.
