I went all out with the Caddy look for Halloween – and I loved it!

Usually dressing up for Halloween as a summer job in high school or college is considered pretty lazy, but this year it was pretty epic.

I’ve been indifferent to Halloween for years now, preferring to play characters whose costumes don’t require much effort and usually require some explanation: James Bond, pedestrians, common PGA Tour golfers, etc.

But this year I decided to go as a caddy. And I didn’t just go looking for my old Caddy bib that I wore in the summers of college and high school. It hadn’t been washed in almost 10 years. This year I took the plunge and wore full coveralls and a custom caddy uniform just like the Augusta National caddies.

Fairway Jockey offers caddy uniforms in a variety of sizes for children and adults alike. Mine was one of the best Halloween costumes I’ve made in years.

It’s customizable so you can put your name on the back and it made for a fun photo shoot with my fiancé, who was a golfer I was in the loop with. You can also have a custom number or logo on the chest.

Adjusting the size was fairly easy. I’m 6-foot-1 and weigh 180 pounds, and the caddy uniform has a handy chart that lets you figure out your size without having to try anything on. I chose the long size 44 and it felt just right. The hem of the pants was a little long for me, but I don’t think you’ll ever see a Cady in coveralls roll up the hem of her pants a little, especially on a hot day. It becomes more authentic.

The caddy uniform completes the ensemble with a number of accessories, including a variety of hats, but luckily my dad gave me an Augusta National Golf Club hat at Berkman’s Place a few years ago, and it brought everything together perfectly.

Gone are the days of trick-of-treating now, but kids still had to wear it while visiting the neighborhood to hand out candy. At first, most of the reactions were from dads who recognized the costume right away. Some even asked where I got it.

But the best response was from a group of boys, about 10 to 11 years old, who came towards the end of the night.

“Are you a caddy IRL?” he asked me, for short. in real life. “Who are you caddying for?”

As I used to be a caddy, I appreciated his assumption that I would actually dress up in my professional costume for Halloween.

What are you doing with your caddy uniform now?

Now that Halloween is over, you might think my caddy uniform will be back in the closet for a year.

In fact, there are many opportunities to wear it outside of Halloween. First, even if I don’t make it to Augusta during the Masters, my caddy uniform will probably be the perfect thing to wear to a Masters party the weekend after equipment duty is over.

But if I need a caddy for a tournament, especially club tournaments that are a little more laid back, I think the best way to use it is to have someone wear a caddy uniform with my name on it!

Either way, it’s a really cool thing to have all year long, and during Halloween, I don’t have to worry about not putting enough effort into my costume.
