Brooks Koepka told me he’s hitting the ball well.
At last week’s PGA Championship, he did so.
“Everything is going well. I like the way I’m hitting.”
He said much the same thing two weeks ago at the One Flight Myrtle Beach Classic.

“I feel like I’m hitting better than ever and driving better than ever.”
He said something similar at the Masters last month.
“I feel like I’m hitting the ball the way I wanted.”
Koepka repeated the same thing at the Texas Children’s Houston Open in late March.
“I feel like I’m playing very well.”
And at the Valspar Championship in March, Koepka said, as you might expect, that he felt he was hitting the ball well.
“He’s playing well, including the way he hits.”
that all He said there are several ways to observe Koepka here. This is his first year back on the PGA Tour after playing four seasons with LIV Golf, and his swing is in good shape. If he felt distracted by retreating, it hardly showed. But there are also some thoughts like It was done Get used to it. Because not only is he swinging, but his putter is also confusing him. He does well, if not great, in all strokes gained statistics. 8th place from tee to green. 41 from the tee shot. Approach the green in 3rd position. He was 48th around the greens — not counting putting, he was ranked an abysmal 141st entering this week. What if he could bring it all together? What would that look like?

Probably around Thursday.
Watch Koepka in the first round of Thursday’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson event. On the 11th hole at TPC Craig Ranch, the second hole of the day starting from the back nine, Koepka sunk 17 feet for birdie, sunk 13 feet for eagle on the 12th hole, sunk 10 feet for birdie on the second hole, and then sunk 14 feet for birdie on the fourth hole, leaving Koepka with an 8-under 63. But Taylor Moore was better. It was Koepka’s best score of the year and his best on the PGA Tour since he shot a 62 at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational on July 30, 2020. (On August 18, 2024, Koepka shot a 63 at LIV Golf’s Greenbrier event.)
Byron Nelson had few great players on the green. Koepka was 10th in strokes gained putting after the first round, but he credited a day of practice earlier this week in his “small warehouse” at his Florida home. There was a putting studio inside the warehouse, and Koepka was holed up there, leaving only to pick up his son Crews from school.
“So I’ve been there for quite a while and worked on a few different things and tried a few different putters,” Koepka said Wednesday. “I think it’s really important to get back to the basics: making sure you’re aligned, making sure your grip is correct and making sure your putter is going where you want it.

“It’s just a little bit different.”
He also showed up with a new putter. At Byron Nelson, Koepka uses a Scotty Cameron Fastback 1.5. Notably, this is the fourth putter he has used this year.
“It feels good in my hands,” Koepka said. “I feel like I’ve struggled a little bit with the toe release. I feel like I’m kind of struggling with it and holding it down. This putter, I mean, scientifically, to get to the bottom of it, there’s a little bit more toe hang. It’s got a little more toe hang than the putters I’ve been using all year, and it’s more like a blade. I know the center of gravity is forward of the face. This is kind of what I’m looking for.”

“So, hopefully we can find some confidence in that and build some momentum from there.”
Of course, Koepka only played 18 holes this week. 3 rounds are in progress. This is followed by larger tournaments, including majors. Putting is the most capricious of pursuits. What falls into a hole today may pop out tomorrow.
However, Koepka could be said to have hit well and putt well for one day.
“My putter finally feels good,” Koepka said. “The last couple of days working in the studio I’ve been very comfortable, and when I got here I felt very comfortable. Rick (caddie Ricky Elliott) said the same thing when he was watching. It also helps you have a little bit more confidence in what you’re feeling versus reality.”
“I’m happy with how everything went today.”
