Tottenham star on £150,000-a-week could miss Man Utd as Thomas Frank suffers injury doubt

Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is suspected of being injured ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.

An early kick-off on Saturday promises to be filled with fireworks as Spurs host the Red Devils in North London.

This showdown could be crucial in the race for European qualification, with both teams having an even record in their first 10 league games with five wins and three losses, with both teams scoring 17 points.

Tottenham’s home form is a major concern, with the club sitting 17th in the home standings despite topping the away table this season. Meanwhile, as of 2025, no other team in the Premier League has lost more home games than the Lilywhites.

Frank’s side suffered another setback in N17 last weekend, scoring just 0.1 expected goals in the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, the lowest of any Premier League side this season.

However, their 4-0 Champions League win over Copenhagen in midweek showed a glimpse of their attacking potential, with defender Micky van de Ven scoring a stunning solo goal that drew comparisons to Son Heung-min’s famous goal at Burnley in 2019.

In recent matches between Spurs and United, the former has had the upper hand.

Tottenham are unbeaten in their last seven games against tomorrow’s visitors in all competitions, with five wins and two draws, including an historic victory in the Europa League final in Bilbao earlier this year.

What’s more, if they win again tomorrow, it will be the first time they have won three consecutive league games against United since 1960.

However, the injury situation adds another layer of complexity for the Spurs. They currently have the longest absentee list in the Premier League with 10 players absent, including Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison.

Shortly after Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Copenhagen, star winger Mohamed Kudus strongly hinted he could feature against United after missing the European game through injury, but Frank provided an update on the Ghanaian.

Tottenham star Mohamed Kudus doubtful for this weekend’s match against Man United

In his pre-match press conference, Frank described Kudus as being “touch and go” against United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. In other words, depending on developments, it may not be ready in time.

The potential absence of Kudus will definitely be a blow to Frank, given that the £150,000-a-week star has stood out as the star attacker this season.

No other player in the Premier League has averaged more take-ons per 90 this season than the African, and according to WhoScored he is currently in the top five best-performing players across the division.

United arrived in north London with real momentum, winning three, drawing one and unbeaten in their last four league games, their best result under manager Ruben Amorim.

They have also been particularly strong offensively, scoring at least two goals in each of their last four games. Bruno Fernandes has contributed, with the 31-year-old aiming to provide an assist in his third successive away appearance for the first time since November 2020.

Now is probably the worst time to play against United, so Frank will be hoping that Kudus will actually be available after his shocking start to the club.
