As first reported in my Daily Briefing exclusive this morning, Manchester United are increasingly keen to pursue a January transfer window deal for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.

The Ghanaian international has been in great form in the Premier League so far this season, scoring a total of six goals and providing three assists in his first 11 games.

Sources say Manchester United want to move quickly to thwart competition from Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City to sign Semenyo in January.

However, Bournemouth don’t want to sell their star player for more than £65m, possibly closer to £80m.

United are showing signs of improvement after a stumbling start to the season and Semenyo could be the next piece of the ideal jigsaw for Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils have improved since the summer arrivals of Brian Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, with the pair having performed well since arriving from Brentford and Wolves respectively.

Semenyo has a similar profile to the one he has proven in the Premier League, so it’s no surprise that MUFC have made him a top priority.

Would Semenyo be better at United or Liverpool?

But Semenyo could have an interesting decision to make if Liverpool are also on the list for his signature.

Arne Slott’s side won the Premier League title last season and Anfield also hosts Champions League football, but they have also been through a very difficult patch.

Of course, there have been some false dawns at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson, but with United looking to be on an upward trajectory, Semenyo may feel he is better off at United for now.

Liverpool are also certain to offer the 25-year-old a key role, as the Merseyside giants need a long-term replacement for the aging and out-of-form Mohamed Salah.
