Newcastle United are interested in signing AZ Alkmaar midfielder Keith Smit.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are hoping to complete a deal despite competition from multiple clubs.

Apparently, the Dutch team is holding out for a fee of around £20-25m. Manchester United and Liverpool are also interested in Smit.

Newcastle keen to sign Keies Smit

Newcastle scouts are keeping a close eye on the AZ Alkmaar midfielder, but it remains to be seen whether they will make a move for him.

They need more control in the center of the park and the Netherlands Under-21 international could be a very useful signing.

Newcastle have quality midfielders at their disposal, but they need more depth in the wings if they want to compete regularly at the highest level.

At 19 years old, he is an incredible talent with a bright future ahead of him. He could develop into a key player for Newcastle in the Premier League.

An investment of £20m to £25m may look like a bargain in the future. Newcastle need to do everything in their power to get a deal done.

They are looking to build a formidable squad for the future and signing one of Europe’s best young players would be a wise move.

They have ambitious projects and high-quality teams. They are one of the richest clubs in the world.

Newcastle won the domestic trophy last season and are in the Champions League this season. They would also be an attractive transfer destination for the 19-year-old midfielder.

He will feel he can continue his development with regular minutes at Newcastle. If he can fulfill his potential, he could join an elite club in the future.
