Manchester United are preparing for a major overhaul in January and are reportedly willing to listen to offers from four first-team players in a bid to raise funds for a long-planned midfield overhaul.

According to ESPN, the players in talks are Koby Mainu, Joshua Zirkzee, Manuel Ugarte and Tyrell Malasia.

Under manager Ruben Amorim, United have made midfield a priority area for reinforcements.

Given the financial constraints and overcrowded squad, the funds generated from the sale of these four players could unlock the transfer funds needed to bring in fresh quality.

Only 20 years old, Mainu is considered one of England’s most promising midfield players. However, they have struggled to get off to a consistent start this season under coach Amorim.

Despite the possibility, sources say the club intends to accept the offer. Loan or sale could be controversial among fans, but it could give him the playing time he’s been looking for.

Zirkzee has also struggled for playing time, with his most recent minutes due to an injury to Benjamin Sesco. His long-term future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.

Ugarte arrived with high expectations but has since struggled to adapt to the rigors of the Premier League. Reports say he no longer fits Amorim’s long-term plans and is likely to be considered for departure.

With Malasia’s contract expiring next summer, a winter sale could be an opportunity for United to recoup their transfer fee rather than risk losing him on a free transfer.

By selling one or more of these players, Man United hope to raise funds to sign key midfield players in January.

By opening the door to offers for Mainu, Zirksee, Ugarte and Marassia, they appear ready to rebuild the team in line with Amorim’s vision, potentially bringing in new midfield talent and rebuilding towards long-term competitiveness.

The Red Devils have been linked with several midfielders in the media in recent weeks.

Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Wolves’ Joao Gomez and Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher are all midfielders to watch.
