Ryan Ogle, tournament director for the 2026 PGA Championship, resigned on Friday, just four months before the championship was scheduled to be held at Aronomink Golf Club outside Philadelphia.

“Change is rarely comfortable, and the timing is rarely perfect,” Ogle wrote in a post on his LinkedIn page.

He said he embraced the new opportunity to settle down for him and his family after moving eight times in the past 13 years at the PGA. Ogle, who first interned with the PGA at the 2012 Ryder Cup, moved to Newtown Square, Pennsylvania in September 2024 for his role as tournament director for the PGA Championship.

PGA Championship Director Ryan Ogle (left) answers questions from the media during an interview inside the new PGA Shop at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville.

“I have reached a stage where planting roots is more important than planning my next move. I have decided to embrace a new opportunity that will allow me to finally settle my family into a permanent home while taking an important step in my career,” he wrote.

The PGA is scheduled to open on May 14th, marking the first major event for the PGA since last fall’s Ryder Cup, which had some issues. In an emailed statement to the Philadelphia Business Journal, the PGA declined to comment on whether it had selected a replacement.

“Plans for the championship are progressing well with the support of our experienced leadership team and we will share more about next steps at the appropriate time,” the association said.
