Atlanta Braves Boost Ranks with Two New Prospects in Baseball America’s Top 100

January marks the season for Top 100 rankings, and Baseball America began the countdown two days ago with its newest preseason list. The system is rich in young talent under 20 years old, so it’s no surprise that the two Braves players making the Top 100 are both pitchers. Leading the Braves, who are ranked 53rd overall, is 19-year-old left-hander Cam Caminiti. Cam had an impressive 2025 campaign, pitching 70 combined innings across the FCL and Low-A levels, recording a 2.08 ERA, an 11.98 K/9 strikeout rate, and a 4.15 BB/9 walk rate, closing the season strongly at Augusta. As documented here, Cam primarily relied on two pitches last year, focusing on fastball command and sweepers, with an occasional changeup. The 2026 season will be crucial as the Braves anticipate unlocking the full potential of Cam’s impressive pitching arsenal.

Additionally, JR Richie has been performing well, securing the 84th spot overall. Last season, JR pitched 140 innings across three levels (A+, AA, AAA), posting a 2.64 ERA with a 9.0 K/9 strikeout rate and a 3.47 BB/9 walk rate. At 22 years old, JR aims to make a case to the Braves this spring for a spot on Atlanta’s major league roster. If his strong play continues, he could earn a role in the starting rotation; if not, he is expected to be among the first options called up whenever the Braves need an additional starter.

This year, the Braves had just two pitchers make the Top 100, but several position players from Low-A and A ball who showed promise last year could boost that number moving forward.

Fan Take: This update is exciting for baseball fans because it highlights the next generation of promising talent that could shape the future of the Braves and the sport as a whole. Watching young arms like Caminiti and Richie develop gives fans hope for strong pitching depth and competitive seasons ahead.
