  • Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior denies speculation

Manchester United are on high alert following reports that Chelsea superstar Cole Palmer is open to a sensational move to Old Trafford in the summer.

The 23-year-old, who has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best players since leaving Manchester City, is reportedly restless in London and keen to return to the North West.

According to The Sun, the Wythenshawe-born forward suffers from homesickness and frequently returns to Manchester to visit friends and family as he “misses home”.

This development has sparked hopes within United that they could lure the England international to the Theater of Dreams in what would be a blockbuster move.

Cole Palmer unstable at Chelsea

Despite signing a lucrative contract extension with Stamford Bridge last season until 2033, sources close to the player suggest his long-term future may lie away from the capital.

The Sun claims Palmer is exploring a route back to Manchester but is “not considering” a return to Manchester City as long as manager Josep Guardiola remains.

This attitude earned Manchester United pole position. The report added that Mr Palmer sees the Red Devils as an ideal destination for him to return to life in the North West and would “welcome any interest” from the Red Devils.

Man United fan as a boy

The possibility of this move is further facilitated by Palmer’s childhood allegiance. It’s no secret that the forward grew up admiring Wayne Rooney and supporting Manchester United, despite coming from their city rivals’ academy.

The emotional appeal of playing for his boyhood club and the presence of United technical director Jason Wilcox, who knows Palmer well from his time in City’s academy, could be decisive factors in negotiations.

Palmer’s incredible stats since joining from Man City

Losing Palmer would be a crushing blow to Chelsea. He has been nothing short of a revelation since arriving for £42.5m in September 2023.

In 110 games for the Blues, Palmer scored an incredible 48 goals and provided 29 assists, leading the team’s attack during a turbulent period.

His achievements have made him arguably the most valuable asset at Stamford Bridge, with his ‘Cold Palmer’ celebrations becoming a trademark of Chelsea’s recent success.

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior denies speculation

The new rumors come just days after new Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior sought to quash speculation about his star man.

Rosenior told reporters: “I’ve spoken to Cole a number of times and he seems very, very happy to be here. He’s a big part of our long-term plans.”

However, with United reportedly ready to test Chelsea’s resolve and the player’s personal preferences now public knowledge, Rosenior may face a battle to keep his talisman when the summer season begins.
