The 2026 U.S. Open begins bright and early Thursday morning as 156 players begin their quest for one of golf’s most coveted titles on one of golf’s most iconic courses. Shinnecock Hills Golf Club will pose a tremendous challenge. And the man who emerges victorious will get more than just the title of U.S. Open champion.

The USGA has assembled a number of strong groups that will garner a lot of attention from the first tee shot. The first notable group to begin play will include Brooks Koepka, who last won the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, paired with other hard-hitting American players Cameron Young and Chris Gottapp, who will hit the first tee at 7:30 a.m. ET. On the other side of the course, European Ryder Cup teams will be represented in a group featuring Rory McIlroy at 7:52 a.m. (Aiming for first US Open victory in 15 years), Ludvig Oberg and Tommy Fleetwood tee off at No. 10.

Last year’s U.S. Open champion JJ Spaun will play in the opening round alongside current U.S. Amateur champion Mason Howell and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. His quest for a career grand slam At 8:14 a.m., we departed from No. 1.

The afternoon wave will be headlined by the 1:25 p.m. tee time, with Bryson DeChambeau, Viktor Hovland and Matt Fitzpatrick starting at No. 10. Starting No. 1 at 1:47 p.m. will be Justin Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama and Xander Schauffele. The final group to watch in the first round will be Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth and Jon Rahm, who will tee off on the 10th at 2:09 p.m.
