Christian Horner’s F1 Comeback Plan Gains Momentum: ‘Unfinished Business’ Fuels Return Ambitions

Former Red Bull Formula 1 team principal Christian Horner, who was recently removed from his role, has expressed that he still has “unfinished business” in the sport as rumors circulate about his potential involvement with Alpine. Horner, who has led Red Bull since its start in 2005 and clinched eight world championships with drivers Sebastian Vettel (2010-2013) and Max Verstappen (2021-2024), was dismissed midway through the 2025 season following Red Bull’s disappointing performance and previous allegations of misconduct.

Since his departure, Horner has been linked with a return to F1. The latest reports suggest that his comeback might be with Alpine, possibly as a minority shareholder in the Enstone-based team. Horner has been clear that he doesn’t want to return just for the sake of it but only if it’s with a competitive team and the right circumstances.

“I have unfinished business in F1,” Horner reportedly said, reflecting on a departure that felt premature to him. “It didn’t end the way I wanted. But I’m not coming back just to come back. I’ll only return if it’s to win. I don’t want to be back in the paddock unless I have a meaningful role.” He also emphasized how much he misses the sport, the people, and the team he helped build over 21 years, but reiterated that he is in no rush and seeks a role where he can be a partner, not merely an employee.

Fan Take: Christian Horner’s potential move to Alpine could shake up the F1 landscape, bringing his wealth of experience to a new team hungry for success. His return might reignite intense competition and strategic battles, making the championship even more exciting for fans worldwide.
