Manchester United aim to strengthen their defense with the signing of Nathan Collins from Brentford.
According to Team Talk, the 24-year-old Republic of Ireland international has emerged as a serious target for Manchester United, who are looking to accelerate talks to sign him.
Not only did the 24-year-old impress with his defensive qualities, but his leadership was just as good. Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are also monitoring the player and regularly scout him. However, Manchester United are actively seeking to sign the player.
It will be interesting to see whether Brentford intend to allow him to leave. They paid a club-record £23m to sign the player in 2023, but could stand to make a handsome return if a big club comes along. The report claims at least £55m could be needed to get the deal done.
Manchester United have the financial wherewithal to pay him and should be in a position to seal a deal, especially if they qualify for the Champions League next campaign. If we want to compete for big trophies, we need to improve defensively.
Also, Harry Maguire is in the twilight stages of his career and they need to plan for his successor. They need quality defenders with leadership skills. Collins would be an ideal addition for them.
The defender may be attracted to the idea of joining one of the biggest clubs in the world. He has proven himself at Brentford and now is the perfect time for him to take on a bigger challenge. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop.
