The Dutch international has struggled since joining Manchester United from Bologna, but it now appears he could be aiming for a return to Serie A.

Romano explained on his YouTube channel that Zirksee would “welcome” a move from Old Trafford this summer, and also mentioned a return to Italy as a possibility.

This is similar to news a few days ago when it was reported that Zirksee would like to leave United and ideally return to Serie A, despite interest from Premier League clubs as well.

“I can guarantee that Joshua Zirkzee’s aspirations will change in the summer transfer window,” Romano said.

“Zirczee would welcome a move from Manchester United.”

He added: “He is expected to leave in the summer and there is also interest from the Premier League. Several Premier League clubs have already made inquiries about the opportunity to sign Joshua Zirkzee in the summer transfer window, as well as Italian clubs.”

“Italian clubs have always had their sights set on Zirksee. In January Roma were pushing and Juventus were just as keen. Now even more clubs are in the race.”

“Joshua Zirkzee is definitely a player to watch in the summer transfer window and could be on the verge of leaving Manchester United.”

Manchester United need to move Joshua Zirkzee

It’s clear things haven’t worked out for Zirksee at United, and moving him this summer looks like the right decision.

The 24-year-old could go on to have a great career in Italian football, but it appears he is not suited to the speed and physical nature of English football.

Some MUFC fans will be disappointed that the deal didn’t work out, as Zirkzee looked like a promising player when he arrived, but unfortunately he becomes the latest in a string of failed signings in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

It will be interesting to see who United bring in to replace them in attack this summer, but if Zirksee leaves, they will certainly need more depth.
