Miles Lewis-Skelly has been linked with a move from Arsenal at the end of the season.

The 19-year-old left-back has struggled to get regular minutes at the London club and needs to play more often at this stage of his career. Manchester United will be prepared to let him leave in the summer.

Manchester United move to sign Miles Lewis-Skelly

Ben Jacobs says Manchester United have already made inquiries about the 19-year-old and rate him highly. The defender is reportedly open to considering a move to play more often next season. However, Manchester United have not approached Arsenal yet. Furthermore, he will need to convince the young defender that this move is ideal for his development.

“United made an informal inquiry and they like him,” Jacobs said (h/t TEAMtalk). “Players are ready to explore options to seek more game time.

“If someone wants to engage in club-to-club negotiations, they will have to overpay. In order to convince Arsenal to negotiate, a suitor will first need to get Lewis-Skelly to agree to a move.”

Manchester United could develop Lewis Skelly

Manchester United has a rich history of developing young players. They will help the 19-year-old player further develop and reach his potential. They need more quality in their left-back department and Arsenal’s youngster could be the ideal long-term replacement for Luke Shaw.

Manchester United have the financial wherewithal to make a deal, but it remains to be seen whether they can convince the young defender. Lewis-Skelly has played just 312 minutes in the Premier League this season.

It will also be difficult to convince Arsenal to sell the player. The Gunners will not want to lose a promising young player like him, but they also cannot include him in the starting line-up. They may have to reluctantly let him go, but they won’t want to sell him to a direct rival.
