Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris has given a scathing assessment of Tottenham Hotspur following their win at the Stadium of Light, admitting he was “not worried at all” about the threat posed by the north London giants.

The result compounded Spurs’ misery, extending their winning streak to a whopping 14 games in what was supposed to be a much-anticipated debut for new manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Despite the hype surrounding De Zerbi’s arrival, Sunderland looked comfortable throughout the contest, taking advantage of a Tottenham team that appeared to lack confidence and tactical cohesion.

What Regis Le Bris said about Tottenham

In the post-match press conference, Le Bris was brutally honest about the team’s ease with which to accommodate visitors.

While most managers would diplomatically praise their opponents, the French manager suggested Spurs simply didn’t have the means to hurt their opponents.

“They weren’t strong enough to beat us, so I wasn’t too worried,” Le Bris said.

“We knew if we stayed disciplined and attacked them on the break, we would have a chance.

They have some great players individually, but as a whole they are struggling to find a rhythm. From the first whistle today we felt in control. ”

Le Bris’ comments highlight the growing feeling within the Premier League that Tottenham have become an easy team to beat against mid-table opponents.

Spurs were the worst this season

The defeat leaves Tottenham in the bottom three, a terrible fall for a club that was once a top-six club.

With just 29 points after 32 games, the reality of relegation for the first time since 1978 is becoming increasingly inevitable.

The disastrous nature of their campaign is evidenced by the fact that in 2026 they have yet to win a single game.

With six games remaining, time is quickly running out for the north London club to defend their Premier League status.
