When Chelsea proudly handed Liam Rosenior a huge six-and-a-half year contract in January, it was supposed to signal the start of a promising project at the club.

After just a few months, that dream is quickly turning into a full-blown nightmare.

The atmosphere in west London has become incredibly toxic following a series of humiliating results, including a disastrous 1-0 defeat to Manchester United that saw them scoreless in four consecutive Premier League games.

According to Football Insider, the Blues are ready to show their faith in their young manager and feel they need a proper pre-season to cement his authority within the squad.

Chelsea continue to support Liam Rosenior

Despite being known for being ruthless and impatient, Chelsea leaders have decided to support their embattled manager.

Chelsea’s current form is historically terrible. You have to go back to 1998 for the last time the Blues failed to score and suffered four straight league defeats.

Add in Paris Saint-Germain’s brutal 8-2 defeat on aggregate in the Champions League Round of 16, and it would be normal for them to consider ending Rosenior’s stay at the club.

However, they feel that the manager is still young and needs more time to prove himself, and are willing to provide him with the resources to succeed at the club.

Fans outraged by club policy

It is clear that the fans are currently dissatisfied and want change at the club.

Before the defeat against Man United, Chelsea fans turned out in droves to protest the club’s current ownership.

Not only are they disappointed with the results on the pitch, but they are also disappointed by the broken promises from the club’s hierarchy and by the transfer strategy, which has focused on signing young, inexperienced players when it is clear that more experience is needed within the squad.

Club leaders feel that Rosenior took the reins at a difficult time and said they knew from the beginning that it would take a huge effort to salvage the season.

They are therefore determined to give him a reprieve until next season to evaluate his performance and decide on his future.
