It has been another turbulent season for Chelsea and Bruco, but there is no doubt that they made the right decision to sack manager Liam Rosenior after a disastrous five-game losing streak.

However, the former Strasbourg and Hull City manager’s first appointment was controversial, with reporter Graham Bailey saying he had struggled to realize his vision at Stamford Bridge and had “lost the confidence of the dressing room”.

Chelsea are currently eighth in the table, seven points behind fifth-placed Liverpool, and are in danger of missing out on their chance to regain Champions League qualification.

Callum MacFarlane will remain in charge as caretaker manager until the end of the season, but Todd Boley and his men cannot afford to miss out on another appointment.

Mr Rosenior’s appointment has been a disaster and Chelsea’s reversal is likely to have a major impact on transfer fees and competition on the continent next year.

At the moment, the team feels like a motley crew of mismatched players, some of whom appear to want to leave. The likes of Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner have been rumored as potential signings, and although they have experience in the Premier League, Boley and co may be more inclined to go down different paths.

According to City AM, Como manager Cesc Fabregas is said to be free to pursue any opportunities that may arise this summer, which is definitely something to keep an eye on given Chelsea’s interest.

It’s unclear whether Fabregas is the frontrunner to sign a project manager who can lead Chelsea back to the top of the table, but the Londoners are certainly interested in the former title-winning midfielder.

Why Fabregas could be the perfect addition to Chelsea

The 38-year-old Fabregas is clearly rising as a coach, with one analyst even praising him as “football’s next elite manager” following his stint at fifth-placed Como in Serie A. The Lombardy-based team was only in Italy’s fourth division in 2019.

Fabregas typically employs a 4-2-3-1 formation, and his Como side not only advanced to European contention, they did so with great force, retaining possession and opening up opponents with surgical passes.

It’s understandable that he should act this way, and at Chelsea he could follow in the footsteps of his esteemed compatriot Josep Guardiola, who achieved legendary status during his 10-year spell at Manchester City.

After all, Fabregas is a Premier League legend and one of the most creative midfielders in Premier League history. During his five seasons at Stamford Bridge, the former Spain international won two league titles: the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League.

He was able to emulate the feats of his days playing in the dugout. He will be able to emulate Pep, who has built up a title-laden legacy over many years and has shaped a team with resources with great precision and accuracy.

Spain has produced many great masters. Stylish passing play is deeply ingrained in their footballing identity. Guardiola is a proponent of such a style and is an authority on a manager who has redefined much of the way football is played in England.

Will Fabregas emerge as the next Iberian manager and shape the course of the Premier League for years to come? The important thing is that he understands Chelsea and knows that they are a club that wants to win.

Moreover, he has the brains and strategy to execute stylish attacking plays that have brought Chelsea back into the limelight and reunited a club that should be challenging for the Premier League and Champions League every year.

Chelsea consider promoting Iraola to ‘better manager’ than Arteta

Andoni Iraola is not Chelsea’s only potential candidate this summer.
