  • Marcus Rashford has revived his career
  • Barcelona are aiming for a permanent deal

Marcus Rashford’s stay at Barcelona could be more than just a temporary escape from Manchester United.

According to TEAMtalk, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has made it clear behind the scenes that the club wants to keep Rashford beyond his loan contract and make him a permanent transfer in the summer.

The 28-year-old forward reportedly has a €30 million buyout clause in his loan contract, which Barcelona have to trigger by June 15 if they want to sign him on those terms.

However, it is possible that the club may seek to negotiate a different payment structure rather than simply triggering this clause.

Marcus Rashford has revived his career

It’s a very interesting situation, as Rashford’s career has felt stuck in a strange place for some time.

At Man United, he went from being one of the main faces of the club to a player constantly surrounded by criticism, pressure and uncertainty. His form dipped, his confidence seemed to suffer, and it often felt like every performance was judged more harshly than others.

But Barcelona may be offering him something different, a fresh environment, a new tactical setup and a manager who clearly believes in him.

That last part is important. Flick’s internal calls for Rashford to stay suggests this is not just a boardroom idea or a cheap market opportunity. It seems like the coach sees his true value.

Barcelona are aiming for a permanent deal

From Barcelona’s perspective, this deal also makes sense in a practical sense. A €30 million transfer fee for an experienced international forward is not outrageous in today’s market, especially for a player who can operate from the left, attack spaces, run behind defenders and provide directness.

Barcelona have plenty of technical players, but Rashford poses a different kind of threat. He’s not always smooth or perfect in tight areas, but when he’s confident he can stretch his team and change the game quickly.

The financial aspects are likely to remain complex. Barcelona have had well-known problems with spending limits and squad registration in recent years, so even a €30m deal may require some creativity. That may be why a restructuring agreement is being discussed.
