Arne Slott’s future at Liverpool has been a hot topic after a season that fell well short of expectations.
Liverpool’s downturn has been significant since winning the Premier League last year, which naturally raises questions about whether Fenway Sports Group can make changes to the dugout.
However, the latest updates suggest that Liverpool have no plans to let Slott go this summer.
According to Ben Jacobs, the club currently have no plans to formally review his position in the summer, and Slott is expected to remain involved in Liverpool’s transfer and squad plans.
Liverpool have full confidence in manager Arne Slott
Jacobs added that it would take a major change of direction for FSG and the club’s leadership to suddenly decide at the end of the season to look at things differently.
Jacobs told GiveMeSport:
“I have spoken to Liverpool officials and the position is clear that Liverpool and FSG are backing Arne Slott and they have a big summer ahead of them, and have been for quite some time, and this idea that there will be a review at the end of the season and a potential U-turn in the position is played down by those involved.”
Furthermore, he added: “Arne Slott is part of the summer plan and if the FSG and Liverpool leadership suddenly left in the summer, it would be a massive U-turn, an unexpected situation. Now that the season is over, we have a different perspective.”
That’s a very clear message. Liverpool’s owners may not be happy with how the campaign has gone, but they are not treating Slott like a manager on the brink.
He seems to feel like he still has faith in the bank because of what he accomplished last season.
The club cannot afford to ignore winning the league title, even if the following year is a mess.
The Reds lost badly this season.
Despite investing heavily in new players this season, it’s clear that Liverpool are out of gear.
The signings of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak were expected to take the team to a new level, but they completely backfired.
None of the signings have had the impact they expected and the Reds will end the season without a silver medal.
It’s a bold move by the club to maintain faith in Slott, considering there are options available to replace him. Xabi Alonso has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool.
Many Liverpool fans will clearly love Alonso at some point, and the pressure will only increase if the club ignores that possibility while Slott continues to struggle.
