  • Why weren’t Spurs appointed to replace Son?
  • Spurs have already signed a new son
        • He’s a big problem: Thomas Frank signing becomes Spurs’ new Aurier

Tottenham Hotspur have regained something irreplaceable since Roberto De Zerbi replaced Igor Tudor during the March international break: confidence.

However, not all. The Spurs still struggle to defeat their biggest enemy. They are still struggling on bogey ground, their own bogey ground.

However, after back-to-back wins against Wolves and Aston Villa in the Premier League Midlands, Leeds United drew N17 games on Monday, leaving them two points behind West Ham United and out of the relegation zone.

Hopes of playing in the Premier League next season hang in the balance, injuries have ruined Spurs’ season, while mismanagement in the transfer market over the past few years has added fuel to the sinister fire.

For example, it seems like it was a mistake to sell Son Heung-min and not replace him.

Why weren’t Spurs appointed to replace Son?

Son is Tottenham’s greatest player of the modern era, and Harry Kane left north London as the club’s all-time top scorer, but he didn’t leave with silverware. My son did. He won the Europa League title as captain of the Lilywhites, ending years of desperately searching for something tangible to call success.

Son joined Tottenham from Bayer Leverkusen for just £22 million and went on to make 454 appearances in white, scoring 173 goals and providing 101 assists.

The 33-year-old, who had become one of the most well-known and admired forwards in the modern Premier League era, needed a replacement, but that failed to materialise, with Mohamed Kudus out injured for much of the season and Brennan Johnson leaving for Crystal Palace, who were struggling under manager Thomas Frank.

It says a lot that the Londoners lost these kinds of players and were unable to replace them. Part of the season ruined by this injury was the lack of leadership and inspiration that Son and Kane bring to you.

Tottenham are certainly without some superstars this season, but it’s not just the forwards who could emerge as key players. After all, Spurs have actually already reiterated their son’s contract, even though they need to find a new world-class attacker to play in place of the South Korean.

Spurs have already signed a new son

Tottenham may not have very good (fit) forwards, but they have reignited their fighting spirit under De Zerbi. The Italian manager strengthened his midfield and strengthened his defence, despite Cristian Romero being out injured and unlikely to play again for Tottenham.

In his place, Micky van de Ven has performed well, winning six of the eight games he faced Wolves and winning all five ground games in the recent 1-1 draw with Leeds United.

An athletic phenomenon, Van de Ven has been a huge asset for most of his Spurs career, joining the club from Wolfsburg in 2023 for £43 million. Liverpool were also interested at the time, but he ended up in north London.

The 6ft 5in Dutch international is one of the best players in the business but has been repeatedly let down by Tottenham’s weaknesses. Their defense may be full of holes, but it shows that Van de Ven and Romero are probably the two best players in the team.

His transfer price reflects that. Despite Spurs’ collapse, the 25-year-old has attracted significant interest from the likes of Liverpool, who took his papers off the shelf and pointed out that he has certainly developed into one of the best players in the Premier League.

But worth £90m and with renewed interest, it won’t be easy for suitors to win it (unless Tottenham, who currently lead West Ham by two points, win their battle for relegation).

That’s a staggering £47m increase in value, and although Van de Ven is not a forward, he is something of a Premier League sensation, much like Son, who has developed into one of the Lilywhites’ defining superstars.

Van de Ven, who arrived from the Bundesliga as an up-and-coming talent, emulated Son and went on to become a superstar. With Romero looking almost certain to leave as soon as the transfer window opens, Van de Ven is certain to stay.

He’s a big problem: Thomas Frank signing becomes Spurs’ new Aurier

Tottenham’s failures in the forward line have kept them in the relegation zone from the Premier League.
